Models, BYOK and costs

Attach a model connection, choose the key mode (your own key or the platform key), and see the cost of each run.

Before you start

  • A provider API key if you use your own key (BYOK).

Steps

  1. Create the connection

Models → create: provider, model id, key mode. The key value is only entered at creation or rotation.

  2. Test it

Run the short test; auth, quota and rate-limit errors are reported distinctly.

  3. Attach to the agent

In the agent Model tab, select this connection. The effective model is shown.

Expected result

A run reports the model and the cost that match exactly what was executed.

Errors and solutions

  • Invalid BYOK key

An explicitly chosen BYOK key that fails gives an actionable error; there is no silent fallback to the platform key.

  • Unknown price

When a provider price is unknown, the cost estimate is flagged as unknown rather than invented.

Screens

/models/[id] — Model detail: identity, key mode, rotation, linked agents, test.

Reference of the console screen to capture (redacted) during the browser recipe (XP14). No fabricated image is shown.

Limits and dependencies

A provider being listed does not guarantee your account has access to every model.
